Brand Ambassador (Toronto)

About The Role:

We are looking for energetic candidates with a passion for craft beer, festivals, and samplings.  Brand Ambassadors will represent the brand across Ontario at festivals, samplings, tournaments, and corporate events. Mill Street Brewery is an industry leader in the craft beer world and continues to produce new innovative products that require promotion, marketing, and knowledgeable team members to assist conveying our key messages to our consumer base. This position is a mixture of consumer engagement, creative thinking and manual labor.

 

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Assist with set up and tear down of Mill Street booth at events
  • Ensure customer satisfaction is met and escalate all issues to the Sponsorship & Events Manager
  • Maintain upkeep of event merchandise, signage and equipment
  • Executes quality control checks to ensure satisfactory representation of the brand
  • Assist with load in and load out kegs from events
  • Ability to use draught equipment
  • Handling tokens and ticket counts

 

Qualifications:

  • Experience in customer service
  • Previous experience in a brand ambassador role
  • Passionate and knowledgeable about Craft Beer
  • Excellent communications and interpersonal skills
  • Enthusiastic and dedicated to the Mill Street brand
  • Ability to multi-task in a fast-paced, team environment
  • Must be able to travel throughout the local market

Brew Pub Sales Manager (Calgary)

Job Responsibilities

  • Responsible for retail sales of beer brewed at the Calgary Brew Pub
  • Develop and implement local store marketing programs to promote retail and Brewpub sales
  • Manage retail space and team of part time employees
  • Lead the consumers sampling and education programs
  • Supports the management of Social Media Feeds
  • Support Brewers on the design and execution of offsite events
  • Manage the merchandise / beer inventory and re-ordering based on aligned safety stock
  • Manage the equipment returns, cleaning and quality controls
  • Assist the Head Brewer with beer dinners
  • Lead tours
  • Runs the daily bank deposits and cash flow reconciliation
  • Create purchase orders and ensured payment to all vendors using Coupa
  • Reconciles inventory at month end, POS data to actual sales every month

Job Qualifications and Competencies

  • Bachelor’s Degree (Business/Commerce major is preferred)
  • MUST be 19 years or older
  • Cicerone certification® / Prud’homme certification® would be an asset
  • Previous hospitality/retail experience
  • 2-3 years of sales experience
  • Must be able withstand physically demanding tasks
  • Well organized, ability to multitask.
  • Previous public speaking and presentation skills would be an asset
  • Must be able to work independently

Head Brewer (St. Johns, Newfoundland)

About Mill Street Brewery:

The brewery is designed to produce up to 1000Hl of beer (brewed to gravity) per year to supply our restaurant and retail beer store, as well as outside accounts, throughout Newfoundland. All brewing activities, from recipe design to brewing, kegging, invoice payment and inventory management, are the responsibility of the Head Brewer.
As a part of the local brewing community, the head brewer will collaborate with other brewers, local suppliers, and beer lovers. The successful candidate should actively seek opportunities to educate and involve people in the brewing process.
The process is semi-automatic, with some manual processes (grains handling, transfers, kegging). The brewer should be ready to learn, grow and approach every day with a positive attitude. The responsibilities of the Head Brewer include:
Brewing: Developing and refining new recipes, operating the brewing equipment safely, accurately, and efficiently to produce quality beer.
  • Brewing tasks include: grain milling, brewing, beer analytical analysis, yeast management, vessel and brewery cleaning, chemical handling, transferring, filtering, carbonating, sensory analysis, and kegging.
Brewery Operations: Planning and managing the selection of beers on tap in the pub to keep a balanced and complete beer list, ordering raw materials, taking inventory.
Cost Control: Managing accounting to ensure vendors are paid in a timely fashion.
Education: Teaching staff and customers about our brewery, our beers, and sharing beer knowledge.
Tours and Events: Working with the retail manager and restaurant events manager to plan, coordinate, and execute outward facing events that engage the community.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma – higher education in a relevant field or Brewing Diploma considered an asset
  • 2-3 years direct brewing experience and a passion for beer
  • Public relations experience and community involvement
  • Strong leadership skills and resourcefulness required
  • High attention to detail with a mechanical aptitude and ability to problem solve
  • Financial and analytical skills required
  • Able to cooperatively resolve conflicts with other leaders
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to prioritize, multi-task, and work in a fast-paced environment
  • Proficient with MS Office
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
Physical Requirements
  • Must be physically fit and able to stand, walk, handle objects and tools, reach, kneel, hear, and communicate effectively
  • Organize and maneuver full kegs weighting 165 pounds
  • Frequently lift and move up to 55 pounds (malt bags, hops, tools)
