Requirements/Qualifications

  • University or College Degree in Science
  • Formal brewing education is an asset
  • Brewing experience is preferred
  • Food and/or Beverage production experience is an asset
  • Ability to work in a fast paced environment
  • Ability to work varied shifts, including nights and weekends
  • Forklift certification is an asset

Maintenance Manager

Job Responsibilities

  • Plan, direct, supervise and make decisions related to all the activities of the Maintenance department
  • Ensuring the safety, training and development of all employees in the department are taken care of
  • Accountable for delivering Maintenance Key Performance Indicator results
  • Managing the maintenance budget and accountable for maintenance cost optimization in Packaging, Brewing, Powerhouse, Logistics and all buildings on site
  • Accountable for plant reliability in support of packaging line efficiencies
  • Ensure all maintenance routines are updated
  • Ensures compliance to all environment, quality, HACCP and safety standards related to the Technical Services department
  • Department Head responsibility for Utilities and Wastewater operations at the brewery (water and water treatment, steam, compressed air, refrigeration, pH control and CO2 usage)
  • Responsible for brewery wide automation strategy and support to electricians and operating departments
  • Responsible for managing federally regulated ammonia, boilers and wastewater systems within legislative compliance
  • Responsible for building maintenance execution

Job Qualifications and Competencies

  • University Degree – Engineering preferred
  • 5-8 years experience as a project engineer or project manager (or experience with equipment design or factory engineering)
  • Knowledge of maintenance best practices, process cost management, policies and procedures including preventative, predictive and overhaul maintenance.
  • 3-5 years experience in maintenance management considered an asset
  • Has a basic understanding of mechanical instruments and equipment, construction and building materials, electrical supply systems, process control systems, steam generation systems, refrigeration, air conditioning (HVAC) and water treatment
  • Good knowledge of computer information systems for administration and process control systems and instrumentation for production and process equipment
  • Proficient knowledge of Microsoft suite and knowledge of maintenance management systems such as SAP or other CMMS systems

Assitant Cidermaker and Distiller

About Mill Street Brewery:

Responsibilities Include:

• Assist in all aspects of on-site cider making and distilling operations.
• Assist in the development of innovative ciders across largely-varied styles to be featured at local brewpub and potentially other brewpub locations. Establish recurring brands as well as seasonal and single batch ciders.
• Maintain stringent safety and quality standards in line with defined company policies/procedures.
• Assisting with raw material and process supplies ordering and inventory management.
• All aspects of cider-making and distilling, fermentation, finishing and packaging of multiple brands including new seasonals.
• Perform soft maintenance on equipment.
• Attend local and out-of-town brewing competitions and events to present and speak about ciders to small and large groups. Drive local cider release events at the pub.
• Brand ambassadorship, tastings, interaction with customers in our pub and events.
• Interact with and educate customers including running cidery tours.

Qualifications

• One year of practical experience and/or education in cidermaking or winemaking.
• Diploma or Bachelor’s degree, in oenology, or relevant discipline preferred.
• Interest in modern craft innovation, cider making and distilling. Strong references within wine or Craft Cider community preferred.
• Leadership and personnel management skills.
• Lift heavy objects on a daily basis (35kgs).
• Excellent communication skills – able to effectively deliver presentations and speak to large groups in formal and informal settings is a must.
• Knowledge of food and chemical safety regulations and procedures.
