Brand Ambassador (Toronto)

About The Role:

We are looking for energetic candidates with a passion for craft beer, festivals, and samplings.  Brand Ambassadors will represent the brand across Ontario at festivals, samplings, tournaments, and corporate events. Mill Street Brewery is an industry leader in the craft beer world and continues to produce new innovative products that require promotion, marketing, and knowledgeable team members to assist conveying our key messages to our consumer base. This position is a mixture of consumer engagement, creative thinking and manual labor.
 
Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Assist with set up and tear down of Mill Street booth at events
  • Ensure customer satisfaction is met and escalate all issues to the Sponsorship & Events Manager
  • Maintain upkeep of event merchandise, signage and equipment
  • Executes quality control checks to ensure satisfactory representation of the brand
  • Assist with load in and load out kegs from events
  • Ability to use draught equipment
  • Handling tokens and ticket counts

Assistant Head Brewer (Calgary Brew Pub)

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Assist with regular production and packaging of beers, focusing on kegging, bottling and cleaning to start and progressing to more advanced cellaring and brewing activities based on aptitude and experience.
  • Assist with ordering and payment of goods and services to support day-to-day operation of the brewery.
  • Manage raw materials and finished goods inventory, keeping records and reports up to date
  • Invoicing and reporting of beer sales to the restaurant and outside accounts.
  • Oversee the operation of the retail store managing inventories to ensure the right selection of beers and merchandise are available for each season
  • Share brewing knowledge with the community, through tours, educational events, beer festivals and tastings.
  • Be an active and engaged member of Calgary’s beer community, willing to seek out vendors, organizations and vendors to collaborate with.

Must haves:

  • Must Love Beer: We need someone who brings passion and creativity to beer and can share that with a broad range of people (internal teams, customers, consumers and media).
  • 2-3 years brewing experience is an asset.
  • Formal brewing education is an asset
  • Strong leadership, independence, and interpersonal skills required.
  • High attention to detail with a mechanical aptitude.
  • Strong organization skills with the ability to prioritize and work in a fast-paced environment.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Aptitude for working on Microsoft Excel.

Physical Requirements:

  • Must be physically fit and able to stand, walk, handle objects and tools, reach , kneel, hear, and communicate effectively
  • Organize and maneuver full kegs weighing 165 pounds
  • Frequently lift and move up to 55 pounds (malt bags, hops, tools)

Assistant Brewer (Toronto Brewpub)

Position Overview:

Reporting to the Head Brewer, you will be responsible for production assistance in the brewing and packaging of kegs and growlers, for both in-house consumption and off-license sale.

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Assist with regular production and packaging of beers, focusing on kegging, bottling and cleaning to start and progressing to more advanced cellaring and brewing activities based on aptitude and experience.
  • Manage raw material and finished goods inventory and invoicing to the restaurant and outside accounts.
  • Assist with ordering and payment of goods and services to support day-to-day operation of the brewery.
  • Assist with production scheduling.
  • Assist with maintenance of brewing equipment and utilities
  • Share brewing knowledge with the community, through tours, educational events, and tastings.
  • Be an active and engaged member of Toronto’s beer community, willing to seek out vendors and organizations to collaborate with.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Undergraduate level science degree
  • Commercial brewing experience
  • Brewing school diploma or post-graduate degree

Inside Sales Representative

About Mill Street Brewery:

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Conduct approximately 40-50 outbound calls daily to accounts across Ontario
  • Developing relationships with clients, conduct introductions to licensees and offer selling and promotional tools to support new customers
  • Excellent organization and time management skills
  • Order and fulfill promotional sales obligations utilizing a web tool
  • Identifying sales gaps and business opportunities to increase sales volume and share
  • Sell and up-sell to meet and exceed sales targets
  • Be an ambassador of our brands and develop strong overall beer knowledge

Must haves:

  • University Degree in Business or related field preferred
  • Previous sales experience an asset
  • Previous Customer Service Experience
  • Previous Analytical experience
  • English (spoken/written)
  • Intermediate knowledge of Microsoft Office, Word, Excel
  • Functional and navigational knowledge of the internet

Quality Control Lab Technician

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Perform routine analytical tests on beer through all stages of the brewing process
  • Perform on-line packaging quality tests for kegs, bottles and cans
  • Perform shelf-life tests on packaged beer
  • Perform tests to evaluate and monitor yeast heath
  • Perform necessary microbiological sampling
  • Participate in sensory evaluation of beer
  • Data analysis of all quality results
  • Identify problem areas and contribute to problem-solving with brewing, packaging and maintenance

Must haves:

  • Degree in Microbiology, Biology, Biochemistry, Chemistry or Food Science is required
  • Brewery experience is preferred
  • Food and/or Beverage experience is an asset
  • Ability to work in a fast paced environment
  • Ability to work varied shifts, including evenings and weekends
  • Sensory training and experience is a plus
  • Strong microbiology skills are desired
  • Experience with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel)
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Strong organizational skills
